I help people navigate the parts of leadership and life that nobody prepares you for.
I'm Matt Loftus — an ICF-accredited Executive Coach, Compassionate Inquiry trained, and mental health consultant based in the UK.
I work with senior leaders, executives, founders, and organisations across the UK and internationally. My clients come to me when they're navigating something that technical skill alone won't solve — a difficult relationship, a leadership transition, a team that's fractured, grief that's showing up in unexpected places, or the quiet pressure of having to hold everything together while privately doubting themselves.
Before coaching, I spent 16 years in education as a teacher and senior leader. That experience gave me a ground-level understanding of what leadership actually costs — and what it takes to lead well when things are genuinely hard.
I have completed the full professional training in Compassionate Inquiry, the approach developed by Dr Gabor Maté — a year-long, 330-hour programme that has fundamentally shaped how I work. It allows me to go to places in a coaching conversation that most approaches don't reach.
My background spans executive coaching, leadership development, suicide prevention and postvention consultancy, and elite sport. For the past two years I have led a resilience coaching programme for UK elite sport, working with organisations including the Premier League, GB Archery, UK Motorsport, and England Lacrosse.
I am also an affiliate Executive Coach at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland, on the world-renowned High-Performance Leadership programme — one of the most demanding executive development programmes in the world.
Alongside my coaching practice, I run The Compassionate Man Project — a space for men to reconnect with their emotional intelligence and lead differently in their work, their relationships, and their own lives.
Across all of my work, one belief remains central: people matter, and the quality of our leadership and lives is shaped by how well we understand ourselves and others.
